This is a pretty awesome story.

The New Stack: Why a Twitter Founding Engineer Is Now All-in on Mastodon >>> thenewstack.io/why-a-twitter-f

Blaine Cook @blaine was one of the founding engineers of Twitter in 2006... I asked Cook if he thinks it’s likely that the fediverse can [become] the default platform for public conversation... “Yeah, I think it’s inevitable. We’ve seen a similar story before — the phone networks used to be monopolies.”

Like Blaine Cook mentioned in that article, I often think that #IPFS could work really well with #ActivityPub instances to help distribute the bandwidth of hosting media, especially ones like #PeerTube, which already attempt to do something similar. It's basically a DIY content-delivery-network like #BitTorrent.

Yep, this comes up occasionally, and it's a tricky topic because there's a lot of confusion out there about what IPFS actually is, how it works, and what it can and can't offer to the Fediverse world.

I think it would be very interesting to try!
