wages have not been stagnant in the US, especially not for the last two years.
Any form of flat tax, unless it exempting those making less than around $175,000 would be regressive. We need higher marginal rates (a lot higher) and better enforcement. The Biden Admin is working on both and has put in place a good effort to collect from the high earning evaders, but of course the GOP has attacked that effort.

Well great! The FairTax proposes to exempt ALL wages from taxation!

So far the Biden administration has proposed a number of extremely regressive taxes, ones that would hit the poorer the hardest.

I'm no Republican, but I will call that guy out for either his regressive taxation or his complete ignorance as to what he is actually calling for as he mumbles out vague proposals that make no sense.

I would support a sales tax if it was structured like this. Items at 80% if the median cost of an item or less are tax free, 80-120% taxed at 50% and items over 120% have a 100% sales tax.
Let’s assume the median price of shoes is $100. $2 flip flops up to $80 dress or casual shoes, no sales tax, $110 nice sneaker or dress shoe would be taxed at $55, and $300 designer shoes would now cost $600.
That’s a fair tax!
