Question: thinking more about the next inroads and Fediverse-related apps -- 🤔
Why shouldn't someone NOW, with no new API calls needed, be able to create a "Fediverse Comments for Blogs and Websites," and completely nuke siloed, privacy-invasive and expensive comment systems from private companies such as :
https://disqus.com/
https://www.openweb.com/
https://www.intensedebate.com/
And worst of all https://developers.facebook.com/products/social-plugins/comments/
Fediverse comments for sites/blogs could obliterate all of them quickly.
Other's have pointed me to this very promising plugin from @pfefferle --

I'd say there's a pretty big difference that ActivityPub actively transmits updates while RSS only passively provides them.
@volkris @scottjenson @tchambers there are also nice real-time extensions to RSS, like PubSubHubbub/WebSub https://www.w3.org/TR/websub/ and RSS Cloud http://home.rsscloud.co/.
