Fucking Christ the @protocol is the most obtuse crock of shit I've ever looked at. It is complex solely for the sake of being complex and still suffers from *all* of the same problems as Mastodon.
Your server goes down? Sorry, all of your followers are lost. Account portability is no better than Mastodon. 'DIDs' serve literally no purpose. And none of the API code that Bluesky uses in their own app validates ANY of the crypto they're doing on the server. NONE OF IT.

Cuz there's literally NOTHING that #bluesky does better that any other #ActivityPub software - not only but including #Mastodon - already does better, more scalable, more reliable and more efficient by a long shot.
AFAICT #BlueSky doesn't bother to do any #moderation but just #shadowban users into convenient #bubbles and #EchoChambers - as #Twitter did and still does...
I'd rather choose a #based instance maintained by people who care [i.e. @stux] instead, and for those that want total control, #SelfHosting & #ManagedHosting is still an option.
So if anyone wants to deal with absolute trash instances that get universally defederated, they can do so.

@volkris @sam @stux Not shure ~ why ~ you want to deal with those but hey, you can if you really want to.
That being said #Mastodon and most other #ActivityPub Software allow blocking both single users and entire domains and that can be abused to the point that one can just post shit and due to the way blocking works can prevent reportings of said messages, which is worse than 
does it.
@volkris @sam @stux well, I don't think it does a great job at that either - at least none that can't be facilitated on #ActivityPub...
But time will propably confirm me better than any discussion today...
