Something Democrats should do in the future, but will not do, is refuse to raise the debt ceiling under any Republican president unless they agree to tax increases and closing of tax loopholes on the wealthy and corporations.
"We can't support raising the debt ceiling further when Republicans force the middle class to pay it and the wealthy don't. It is irresponsible."
They won't, because they are both responsible and horrible at power-plays.
