🥥 I planned to write a toot about how I'm deliberately using #Mastodon to improve my mental health.
I've dropped all other social media.
I engage with people here.
I ask questions.
And I strive to be encouraging and supportive of others.
Recently a man from #Sweden said a political tweet of mine reminded him of #Twitter.
Instead of getting defensive, I considered what he said, realized it was accurate, edited my toot, and issued him an apology.

Well I end up wondering what specifically was wrong with your post.
Just because something is reminiscent of Twitter doesn't mean it's necessarily bad. And I would worry that people are getting criticized not on their own terms but because of association with the other site.
Well I can see your cause for concern and why you decided to walk that back.
FWIW, to me personally, I think that terminology probably captured what you were trying to say pretty well, so maybe I would have clarified with "political parasite"? But yeah, not trying to argue, I see where you're coming from there.

I came down on the side of caution and -- for me -- promoting inner peace.
Yes, in context and at the time it was an apt word choice. But on reflection it felt cutting and harsh. 🥥

That's a word that's dangerous to throw around.
It dehumanizes, and there are historical examples of the harm that using it has done. (Germany, Rwanda, plenty of other places.) 🥥
