A few brief thoughts on Musk:

1/ #Twitter was never worth $44B. That’s just what he paid.

2/ The platform lost value bc most companies don’t want to advertise alongside bigotry, racism, misogyny, antisemitism, transphobia & hate speech.

3/ Twitter is over. Long live the #fediverse.

Twitter WAS worth $44B, to Musk, since that's what he paid.

His payment reflected how much it was worth to him.

The value of Twitter goes beyond advertising.

Twitter was always a cesspool, though, and it continues to stumble along, relevant as ever today.

Twitter was never great. It's not great today. But Musk is enjoying all the attention he got from his purchase, so I guess, good for him.

@volkris @Sheril He BOUGHT is to avoid getting sued.

His excess billions allowed him to do this without terminal failure.

Now he is merely playing with the overpriced toy he bought, and can afford to lose money on.

"You're right, Mr Thatcher, I lost a million dollars last year—I expect to lose a million dollars NEXT year . . ."

Musk is playing a role he can afford, to play, from a movie where his character is a tragic villian.

You say Elon bought Twitter to avoid getting sued, and even if we focus on just that statement, Don't you think avoiding getting sued is a pretty valuable thing?

I mean, your own statement reinforces what I'm saying!
