I am not surprised by #ElonMusk’s reaction. This is why I think any attempts by @EU_Commission to reign in #X / #Twitter via #GDPR & #DMA will also not work.
#Musk will not bow to governmental decrees—so long as they do not target #SpaceX or #Tesla (which authoritarian governments like #SaudiArabia 🇸🇦 & #China 🇨🇳 have figured out).

Aren't GDPR and DMA in a vastly different position?
In this case, Musk is suing California saying that the CA law runs afoul of federal law, but is there some higher law above EU Commission that would similarly block GDPR?

Right, but so what? It doesn't matter what Musk may have issues with, either he does or he does not have the legal protection he's claiming here.
He might believe with every fiber of his being that he has federal legal protections against the CA law; but that doesn't impact whether such federal law exists.
So same with GDPR and DMA and whatever else. I don't care what Musk WANTS; if he doesn't have such legal protection against regulation then he doesn't have it.
This question isn't about Musk at all. It's about what the laws actually say.

Well I assume the EU will use the police powers that it has at its disposal.
As for Musk, I think you have the story a bit backwards, as he is attempting to use federal laws to protect himself from state laws. The power in that case is vested in federal law, not Musk.

#Musk has a history of ignoring both state & federal laws as he feels above them for some strange reason. If he is defiant against the #UnitedStates 🇺🇸 then he will defy European laws.
He only backs down when confronted with power. It's why he has not suspended #ADL despite threatening to sue them in court.

But in this case Musk isn't IGNORING state and federal laws, but rather the opposite, APPLYING a federal law to address a state law.
He's not ignoring law here; he's emphatically invoking them.

@volkris @EU_Commission Basically #Musk has always had issues with the government telling him what to do. During #COVID #ElonMusk kept #Tesla factories open & ignored orders to shut factories down in California.
The government did not arrest him because they needed #Elon for #SpaceX.
