I'm just going to put out the reminder that if the rest of the colonizing, imperialist world hadn't had an interest in the petroleum reserves under Middle Eastern soil, they likely wouldn't have destabilized the whole region with a host of manipulative international fuckery.

Also, if the ussr & u.s. hadn't had a decades long international cock waving contest, that manipulation wouldn't have happened either.

@volkris @timberwraith Oil made things worse later, outside powers manipulating countries for resources was always a big problem. India was exploited, literally through a company then Africa for metals, minerals and actual human beings.
