@ErikJonker seems pretty obvious that a country going to war would prefer their enemy not to have communications, so they can't communicate and coordinate their own forces.
I don't know why we would say we don't know why it happened.
@volkris true, but there is a reason the US , who is also aware of this , pressures Israel to end it. Personally I think Hamas probably has it's own equipment (wires in the tunnels, walkie-talkies on the surface)

@ErikJonker frankly, at this point I think high ranking officials in the US government have no idea what's going on and so their reason for such pressure is pretty naive.
But I guess that's a different topic.
