A belated happy 81st birthday to Joe Biden – but why won’t he, and other aging politicians, actually retire?!

One theory is that it’s denial. For others, it’s identity-driven after long careers in politics.

While denial and ego certainly play a role, epitomized by Trump, we must also recognize we're in a deadly serious relay race. We can't afford a dropped baton.
Democratic House leadership diligently prepared for the exchange, and executed it flawlessly.
It's far from clear that there's been sufficient preparation to flawlessly pass the presidential baton.
Biden is arguably the most experienced and successful US executive in decades. Perhaps now is not the time pass that baton.

@joeinwynnewood arguably, yes, but the argument is a bad one that so many of us don't find compelling when we consider it against the state of the nation and world.

Biden has been letting the baton slip, and we should replace him before he lets it hit the ground.

If anything his successes might include spiking the thing.
