We would like to inform you that the threads.net domain was blocked tonight by the FTdL technical department.

#Meta has not enabled the federation, it has only made it possible for a few profiles from #Threads to observe them from the #fediverse website.

We do not know Meta's intentions, and we have reason to believe that they will not stand in line with the values we uphold in the #Fediverse.

We do not want to expose Pol.social users to potential danger.

While it is true that you could have blocked threads on your own using your personal moderation tools, an instance-level block prevents the exchange of #ActivityPub communications altogether.

The block will be able to be removed in the future, if it turns out that Meta operates cleanly in the federation and follows the rules here.

@ftdl since it is true that users could have blocked threads on their own using personal moderation tools, I think you should have let users make that choice for themselves.

Preventing the exchange of communications altogether deprives users of the power to make that choice.
