Does it bother anyone else that the timeline always starts at the most recent post and then everything below is in reverse chronological order? It's like this old Czech movie I love where everything happens in reverse and you get the answer before you've heard the question. Or those US road markings that say:

AHEAD
STOP

Surely there's a way to have the top of the timeline be the last place you left off and then everything below is more recent.

@bitcrush_io It could be done but a lot of people are really invested in the reverse chronological algorithm.

One issue is that the platform is such a fire hose that there might be thousands of posts between the last one you saw and the most recent.

So it gets complicated to try to do things more complicated than straight reverse chronological.

Not that it's a bad idea, I'm fully supportive of it, but it's more complicated than what a lot of people seem to want.

Hmm. I'd even take a compromise of a "jump to this morning" button for the home timeline, with the most recent post still being at the "bottom" of the current view.

I agree the tricky part with forward chronological is figuring out what the qualifier should be for which post appears "first". Last user position seemed like one option, since @apps already offers it.

@bitcrush_io sounds like a good idea to me!

A quick button that would fast forward to some particular point in time sounds like a fine way to access the feed.

Y'all listening, developers?
