Almost every single conversation I've had for the past few days about the #Threads situation the anti-federation team has one motto and one motto only "Meta is evil!" As if we didn't already know that.
What they're overlooking is Threads users, and what they're totally missing is that by defederating their instances with Threads they're achieving absolutely nothing except punishing Threads users and preventing them from discovering the Social Web (aka the Fediverse).
Federation with Meta is happening. Whether we want it or not. It's not for us to decide, it's for Meta (and the same for whoever decides to join next) It's what an open protocol is. Something anyone and everyone can use. We often compare the fediverse to e-mail and it's the same. You can't prevent a company, as evil as it is from having an email server.
I'm sorry to say that, but if you want a walled-garden, maybe the #Fediverse is just not for you.
@DavidBHimself not to mention punishing their own fediverse users by blocking them from content.
