At the least, I can block .social if I want. Leave all the bad actors there so it's easier for you and I to filter our feeds.

You can but the bain of my browsing life here is the Deal3 prolific spammer. They do variations on the username and just hop from instance to instance. I block and report them. But if I blocked every instance I would be in a very lonely place.
As for the poor admins - they must be under a deluge of reports and can only play whacko-mole. Maybe if Amazon would kill his beneficial account but I'm not sure who would have the aggregated evidence to complain and why Amazon would want to comply.
