@lauren FWIW, today I heard a bunch of self-described MAGA folks rejecting the idea as a nutty conspiracy theory.
Heck, a few of them took it to the next level and made their own conspiracy theory that something so nutty clearly came from those trying to undermine the MAGA side.
What a time to be alive.
You give them more credit than I would.
Heck, I was hearing MAGA types yesterday talking about how Swift's people would abandon *her* if she gets political, which says something about their understanding of that relationship.
@lauren
@lauren if nothing else it goes to emphasize that Trump supporters aren't a monolithic group, that there are different camps with vastly different perspectives, and that's a critical thing to keep in mind when addressing them.
@volkris Yes. Though it doesn't necessarily have much affect with a cult of diseased personality.
@lauren part of my point in saying that Trump voters are not monolithic and often have exact opposite viewpoints is to emphasize that they're not all cultists, and the non-cultists can be pealed off for the greater good.
But that peeling off is much more difficult if nobody's engaging with them due to buying into the stereotype of them all being the same, all in the same cult.
@volkris Well, that's why I do my national radio segments every week, to bring tech and tech policies into the filter bubble, and I always do it with respect and never talk down. And hell, I get criticized for talking to those audiences at all!
@volkris Well, it's being promoted by some of MAGA's biggest stars!
