its eternally hilarious that after both world wars the amerikan presidents correctly identified the causes as nations being in dangerous treaties and alliances that forced them into conflict because there was no arena to discuss problems between them before things like assassinations and bombings popped off and then after ww2 the anticommunist nations just recreated that and forced the eastern bloc to join their warsaw pact at the same time they formed the UN.

@enlightenedferalboy No, you have it backwards: The UN structure is generally focused on inaction instead of action. It's not about treaties requiring nations to act as much as a venue for nations to veto each other's actions.

@volkris ah my wording is confusing: i am referring to the creation of nato in the context of the alliances and treaties not the un, which i am mentioning as an ironic contrast to this as the organization that allows nations to discuss matters and avoid the nightmares that nato made possible.
