I don't mean to stir the pot. I don't care what others do as long as they are informed. The reason I will continue to block #Threads is spelled out in Meta's privacy policy:

"If you interact with Threads through a Third Party Service (such as by following Threads users, interacting with Threads content, or by allowing Threads users to follow you or interact with your content), we collect information about your third-party account and profile... your content... and your interactions."

They go on to explain:

"We use the information we collect for Threads for the purposes described in the Meta Privacy Policy, including to provide, personalize, and improve Threads and other Meta Products ... to provide measurement, analytics and other business services (including ads)."

I am not at all interested in participating in Facebook's continued surveillance capitalism.

@null The problem is that you’re broadcasting your information to them whether you like it or not. That’s just how the protocols on this platform work.

They are extremely weak in terms of privacy, so basically anything you post here is available to Facebook, whether threads exists or not.

ActivityPub is a public broadcast platform. I wish it was otherwise, but it is what it is.
