A couple remarks on my design tastes, in relation to the touchscreen smartphone OS I designed yesterday:
I'd lean heavily into gestures. And I'd ensure the device is small enough to operate on-handed, reaching any point onscreen.
I didn't say anything scrollbars. Inverted colours seems like an interesting idea to not take up any screen realestate...
As for monitoring which sites are using how much energy, I'd need additional inputs & firmware to audit which site used that energy...

Hmmmmm, I wonder how computers determine how much battery charge they have? Links please?
And in general, I love imagining how far an OS can go without self-contained apps. If it had a more cohesive experience!

@alcinnz One option is they measure the voltage of the battery through an ADC, analog to digital converter, and based on the voltage they get a sense of how much charge is left.
The voltage will drop as the battery runs out.
However, with some of the newer batteries the voltage doesn't drop as fast, so the computer will try to keep track of how much current has been drawn from the battery and estimate how much is left based on that.
Both options can be pretty inexact, though, especially the second.
