#ElonMusk is the October surprise of the 2024 election

The #billionaire #Tesla and #SpaceX CEO, and owner of# X, has interjected himself into a presidential race like no other titan before him.

WaPo’s Michael Scherer and Josh Dawsey write , as the world’s richest person has worked publicly to bend the outcome to his will like no billionaire has before in the US

I’d like to think that Musk is going to backfire on Trump

I think most American voters don’t like the idea of billionaires “buying election”

And the GOP $$$ (Adelson, Mercer, Uline, etc.) was always *dark* as in regular voters didn’t know about it

Now they do

Anyway, I hope it backfires. He does not seem appealing politically to me

The critical thing to keep in mind is that was elected the first time by a coalition of different groups with often absolutely contrary positions, for example, free traders and isolationists looking to put up tariffs.

That coalition collapsed, but is part of a new coalition now as one can see from the diversity of speakers at the MSG event over the weekend.

It's really a coalition of people expressing backlash against and the powerful who nominated her without considering the general public skepticism of her as a candidate.

If Trump is reelected then it won't be a story about Musk or any other billionaire buying the election, but rather a rebuke from the general public, people from all walks of life, rejecting the power play of Democratic elite.

Musk here represents not the rich but rather the breadth of the coalition that Democrats misjudged.

@volkris @peterbutler Guess that explains why Musk bought Twitter and has been spewing racist, misogynist, fascist quotes and conspiracy theories over the last year🤔

Follow

@drrjv muskbach Twitter because he's a troll. He bought it as an act of trolling everybody. He wanted to get attention, and the more you bring him up, the more he proves successful in that.

He thinks that's funny. That's how trolls work.
