We are in uncharted territory.
As far as Trump is concerned it is charted territory. But there is no power like the US to challenge him like Hitler had because we are the US. What we can do is not charted. No one is coming to save us. It’s not hopeless. Never before have we had the threat of man-made climate change. Never before have we had a global civilization. The COVID pandemic showed us how interconnected we are. If we collapse it’ll be a 100x worse than the Bronze Age collapse.
@londubh No the US would challenge a hitler-like figure. The US itself was built with protections to guard itself from such a person.
We are not in uncharted territory here. We know exactly how the machine works to address these concerns.
We just have to learn about them and make sure we elect representatives who will put them to use.
@londubh so far we see people continuing to refuse to obey illegal commands, so the protections are still in place.
Most recently there was the refusal to recognize the ERA In official government documents. So long as the civil Service in particular is doing its job the protections are there.
@volkris yeah, I said that about Trump but our protections failed and there is no equivalent of a US-like power. We are in uncharted territory for the other stuff I mentioned.
