The Musk apologists are arguing this was a Roman salute and was delivered in the context of "my heart goes out to all of you".

I would counter he is a literal Nazi who is pushing the limits of signalling that with a figleaf of deniability for the needy followers to clutch on.

He isn't fooling me but the real question is - is it fooling any of you?

@adwright He's well known to be a troll.

Why go any farther than that?

@volkris Because he's thrown millions into fascist political parties world-wide, has by Trump's own account fixed the US election and is intervening here in Canada in ways subtle and gross (pun intended). He's pushing the most Nazi-like party in Germany since the Nazis and in the UK the biggest Nazi since Mosley.

The dude is more than trolling. He's legit a cray cray Bond villain augmented by billionaire chems on his good days with the potential to be apocalyptically influential on a bad one.

@adwright firstly, keep in mind that the way you phrased that reply, you sound pretty crazy. You should be aware of that if you want to actually convince anyone of anything.

But to the point, you can oppose the guy by saying he's a toxic troll, and that would cover everything that you're complaining about. If you start going down this road of trying to prove his Nazi motivations or whatever, well now you are painting yourself into a corner where your arguments are a bit out there and you'll need a lot more proof to defend them... but why? You end up undermining your position by choosing a tougher row to hoe.

He's a troll. Let's eject him as a troll. That's enough to get to the conclusion.

@volkris

Nothing I said is not literal truth.

Moonraker could have Musk switched out with Hugo Drax with only minor rewrites which is the only element of my post you cannot find a headline for in respectable world news media.

(I should clarify - the movie Moonraker, not the novel which was much smaller scale villainy.)

@adwright again I'm pointing out that your approach isn't going to convince people who aren't already on your side. It comes across as a nutty conspiracy theory, which I bring up to point out that a whole lot of nutty conspiracy theories are based on literal fact.

There are a whole lot of flat Earth conspiracy kooks out there who correctly point out that they're just stating fact, even though they're jumping from fact to weak conclusions.

All of this musk is a Nazi stuff can be counterproductive, taking the attention off of the guy and his misbehavior and instead putting the attention on the guy yelling Nazi.
