Most of the people that voted for Trump, are happy with what's happened.
Most of the centrist Dems that talked about moving right, are still talking about moving right.
So most of the people that stayed home or voted 3rd party, would stay home or vote 3rd party again.
No one has learned anything.

@mekkaokereke we can't ever forget the role that corporate media has played and is playing in poisoning minds. Much of the country simply doesn't have local news anymore at all. Rural communities have had their locally held wealth and culture stripped from them. They're eager for someone to blame and Fox is all too happy to tell them.
Dems aren't going to overcome this unless they spend time and money on rural organizing. Hopefully they haven't forgotten how.

This isn't about social media. This isn't about Cambridge Analytica. This isn't about private equity consolidating newspapers.
This is about the United States' refusal to address racism head on. Because racism is the vulnerability that fascists use to take over democratic societies.
Keep in mind what you're saying: if it hasn't budged in 80 years, then it doesn't seem like a very useful vulnerability. If it hasn't made inroads in that many generations, then that doesn't work.
So no, this isn't about the United States refusal to address racism. This is about a political norm, a durable political structure, which is a very different thing.
If you want people to vote differently then you need to understand why they're voting the way they are, and that's not about racism, clearly, if nothing else based on what you said about how long it's been that people are voting that way.
