It’s inspiring to see millions of people taking to the streets across the US. That’s a powerful achievement.
Still, I wonder, do any local Americans here know people who used to join protests but now feel intimidated under the current administration?
Perhaps those at higher risk of deportation or members of other marginalized groups are thinking twice before showing up in public spaces?
@everton137 Honestly? Don’t really think so. The people who showed up then are mostly the same who protest now.
That's my case I know many minorities in my close Social circle, and not a single one showed any sign of fear. As they were organizing carpools and stuff, fear never came up.
@volkris @everton137 Yes, I think activists are not deterred. The people who are rightfully afraid of the Migra are undocumented immigrants, the Hispanic-looking in particular, and those are for their own good reasons less likely to be active in demonstrations.
I'd imagine so, but that's a much larger question than just asking about what people were experiencing when planning to go over to the weekend's events.
