I know it's the least of our problems, but the like the White House doesn't even need a big giant ballroom? There is plenty of space in DC to have a seated dinner with a lackluster piece of chicken and a fundraiser or whatever.

I mean, who specifically is saying this? How many State Dinners even happen in a year? A couple? (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of.... Maybe you can add on some other events, how many are we talking? We tore down a third of the White House to build a hotel ballroom for a handful of events per year?

my god they weren't even porta potties (which woulda been fine too)! These were nice bathroom trailers on the South Lawn that you might see at some larger events like a big wedding or conference. They had running water and sinks and air conditioning. It was fine!

I'm getting worked up about infrastructure/democracy again

I know, nothing matters, that's not why they're doing it, etc. But the actual logistics of this is absurd: just getting the number of people through security for a giant ballroom like this would take a long time. When there is a big ceremony on the South Lawn, guests line up for several blocks.

is anyone even considering how big of a HVAC system this big ballroom would need, where are those chillers gonna go bsky.app/profile/seek...

please keep replying with your cool analysis "that's not why they're doing it", it only makes my calculations about the absurd electrical service upgrade equipment that would be needed WORSE

@costasamaras.com Yeah, it does come across like you're looking for things to get worked up over.

Even in your own thread here you talk about the crowds that come to these events, and it sounds like you think it's only going to be used for one specific type of event and overlooking that the space can be used for many different types of events, multiple per week.

Saying the bathroom trailers are really nice doesn't change that maybe they shouldn't need bathroom trailers in the first place.

This renovation doesn't seem particularly valuable to me fuck, I wouldn't do it, and I think they really really should have gone about it a different way, but I think you are reaching to find something to be upset about here.
