Outcry over supreme court decision to grant Trump power to fire agency chiefs theguardian.com/us-news/2026/j
Legal and labor experts say Trump v Slaughter decision upends settled constitutional law in favor of ‘loyalty test’. #uslaw #uspol #SCOTUS

Justice Sonia Sotomayor called the Slaughter decision “egregiously wrong”, arguing that the majority had upended settled constitutional law in a ruling that, she wrote, “promises to unleash only chaos”.

“Today, the court discards that democratic regime in favor of one that distorts the structure of government to fit the majority’s theory of unitary, total executive control. The result is a president who emerges with far greater power than ever before,” she wrote.

@drrimmer Yeah. They're not going to be so happy when there's a president, who doesn't see eye to eye with conservatives, in power who is willing to use everything the Supremacist Court of the United States has handed to the presidency.

As the ruling went to lengths to emphasize, the power was handed to the president by the Constitution. And he is to bear all responsibility for mismanagement of his branch.

Democrats SHOULD be happy with this recognition, properly framing it as giving even more grounds for impeaching the guy.
