I’ve heard recently of two leaders who lost valuable employees because of the leaders’ direct actions. They expressed surprise when the folks left, and both said both were “unfair” in their reasons for leaving.

@garyackerman I recently heard someone say that he was disappointed one of their team of managers was leaving. They had previously thought that the person leaving was a leader, and that meant guiding people through the bad times.

Obviously it didn't apply one level higher.
