@freemo I know that’s how it *should* work, but as an example, I tried following a public account I own on counter.social. It says pending on Qoto, but there is no way to approve on counter, and I never made the profile private.

@wood is it possible counter.social has us blocked. Many instances are very excessive in their blocking usually for very silly reasons (like blocking an instance simply because they dont block some other instance)

@freemo that could be the case, not sure how to find out for sure.

@wood Sadly instances which are abusive with their block lists tend to not publish their block lists for fear their users might jump ship as a response or not join in the first place.

You can always ask the admin i suppose... Are you able to follow and see woto accounts from there? If so then it is likely a silence and not a block. If not it is a block.
