Would I recommend as daily driver? No. But I also won't stop living in it. orys.us/v6

@worldsendless @daviwil I’ve been using EXWM for a couple of years now, and I never spent much time configuring it actually: the defaults were fine for me (coming from ratpoison…).

Occasionally ‘font-lock-mode’ on a big file or whatever freezes the whole thing and I find myself sending SIGUSR2 or attaching gdb to fiddle with the Emacs process. Small annoyance compared to the benefits, but maybe a reason why I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

I think I was able to use it as EMACS without much customization, but getting all my laptop fuctonality to work took some configuration (a good bit from the I3WM and Arch documentations).

I wrote about a bunch of such things when I was getting started, at orys.us/exwm . Battery, screen lights, wifi, etc
