Starting March 15th, 2021 Google Chrome Team will restrict access to Google APIs and services that are reserved for Google use only. This means that users are no longer able to login into their Google Accounts which disables access to for example Chrome Sync.

The slow death of the free web I guess.

We know that the next move is going to restrict all Google services to Google-approved clients.

@lanodan Hopefully we will still have the fediverse, while everyone else just ends up paying, we can be here.

If there's ever a bight traction that isn't monetized by sauron there will be a need to migrate to an anonymous meshnet.
@mangeurdenuage @zleap >anynomous meshnet

Ah yeah, the kind of thing that basically no one uses.
@lanodan @zleap
>the kind of thing that basically no one uses.
Isn't that the reason for why "nobody" uses it ? Because everyone says "nobody" uses one ?

@mangeurdenuage @lanodan I get told it is not worth using the fediverse cos no one uses it, this is usually down to no one they know uses it.

I don't care either way, if I share stuff here it gives those of us who are here a chance.

one reason I set up @TorbayUK for that reason, reach out to those people who are here.

@mangeurdenuage @zleap No, just that the names on those are human-meaningless. See Zooko's triangle.

There is very few solutions found on this and a lot of them are the thing that widen the failure of distributed systems to scale properly.
@lanodan @zleap
>No, just that the names on those are human-meaningless.
Yes, most computer users don't have enough knowledge to use them.

>See Zooko's triangle
See GNS.

See Gnunet.

@mangeurdenuage @lanodan
All we can do is share content here, a lot of the time and tell people we have shared it.

the more we mention fediverse people will start to hear about it, and then become curious,.
