@witchescauldron I think the fediverse does put control back in to the hands of the end user, if more people ran their own instance, they can choose what to or what not to block.
so (as an example of something that could be a sensitive topic ) a naturist can connect with other naturists, but people not comfortable with that level of nudity can choose to block.
I guess what is needed is for instances to be open about their policies without having a a huge essay (aka terms and conditions) to read during sign up.
