I have written a short article for my local community magazine thing.
This is 317 words, max is about 330, however once we are happy with this.

I would to get this in well before the Dec 13th Deadline as it can then hopefully go in to the January issue.
I am trying to keep this at a level for the avg (non technical) person to read, but not shy away from some of the terminology associated with the fediverse.
@zleap I went through your pad. it is nicely written. Maybe give them an example like email to illustrate what is federation. I don't think including license is necessary. Also, you can illustrate how the different service providers(in layman language, service provider is simpler than instance) on mastodon gives the users more freedom as one service provider goes bad, then they can switch the service providers. Also, Facebook outage type of thing cannot affect the whole Fediverse. @dsfgs

To the end of that paragraph, being careful to also not mention the main providers,
Shock, / horror for people there are OTHER e-mail providers.
