So yesterday I spoke of the need to #FundTheFediverse - to build critical infrastructure for the #Fediverse & the need to do so before the next item in the #MuskPocolypse occurs. (Which, at this rate, seems daily)
These are my ideas: in 🧵 form.
1. The first obvious thing is to donate to your local instance admin, find their Patreon, usually on their about page, and give even $1 dollar.
Make it happen. Give $8 bucks if you want the added benefit of mocking Elon.

6. Push Brands and Orgs:
☑️ When big brands jump over to Mastodon - looking at you VW - we should put strong public pressure that they should donate to @Gargron 's nonprofit.... (As @Raspberry_Pi did now a platinum sponsor for Eugen)...
☑️ If companies don't set up their own private instance (which they should) and if they use a general instance, we should pressure them to donate to THAT instance as well...
They respond to pressure, and we can organize that.

I'm all for public instances for brands if they want to offer their staff social hosting. But agree, those should be closed to their staff only, not public to anyone.

That would certainly help reduce costs if there was a single instance and a few accounts for those maintaining the presence.
Surely the more people the increased chance of an error being made when posting.
Company reputation is important.
