I believe in a livable wage for everyone. It baffles me business owners argue with me, and I’ve had many do so, that paying their staff a higher wage will destroy their business. They are always white dudes who fancy themselves clever businessmen.

Until I hit them with, “wait, are you saying you didn’t budget for employee wages that afford them the basics of life? Surely you budgeted for that, right, Jimothy? I thought you understood business?”

It’s a blow to the fragile biz man fee fees.

@godlessmom Sadly, business is addicted to corporate welfare. They have learned that if they starve their workers enough the government will step in to backfill their exploitation.

To add insult to injury, their Republican friends then block any attempt at social investment. It’s calculated and premeditated economic slavery.

Even the UK govern, ment departments have people on welfare despite working for the department that pays it out.

If they paid people more they would not need to rely on welfare to top their income up.

Apparently even GCHQ has a foodbank (cite bbc new

@zleap @godlessmom The UK government has subsided employers for decades. Since 2012 it has slowly dismantled the social safety net, sold off social housing and its answer now in response to abject fuel poverty, where pensioners are travelling around on busses to stay warm, is to claim credit for pensioner’s free bus passes and introduce ‘Warm Hubs’

This after tanking the economy and giving billions to their rich friends with PPP contracts.

Criminal enterprise springs to mind.
