As twitter continues to struggle, I’ve heard folks mention government and emergency accounts that are intended for wide broadcast (like accounts warning of weather emergencies or tracking natural disasters, for example) but not necessarily for following others.

Is there a place in the “scaling the fediverse” conversation for broadcast-style accounts that aren’t expected to have “replies” but messages of which should be boostable (normal and “quote”)?

Not sure but this does sound like a good idea

I do have 3 options in my profile to select the type of account I am running

Lock account
Requires you to manually approve followers
This is a bot account
This account mainly performs automated actions and might not be monitored
List this account on the directory Recommended
The profile directory is another way by which your account can reach a wider audience

I would guess we need to try and ensure that any suck instance doesn't get blocked by other instances as they are for public information.

Good conversation to be had around this though.
