I'm becoming increasingly irritated by journalists reporting that the government's anti-strike legislation is intended to ensure minimum service standards. The government doesn't care one jot about minimum service levels when industrial action isn't occurring. In fact, the government has itself caused sustained reductions in standards. So no, the legislation isn't intended to maintain standards, it's intended to undermine the right to strike. Lazy journalism, tell it like it is. #ukpolitics

Agreed The unions already have minimum service standard agreements in place, hence there is already an agreement to cross the picket line if there is a life threatening emergency.

Strikes are not meant to result in the deaths of vulnerable people. People are already dying as a result of the strain the NHS is under, the strikes are a response to that, hence the are demanding better pay AND working conditions. part of the latter is to sort out the staffing crisis.
