Twitter has put out a relatively lengthy blog post effectively denying that any of the recently leaked, scraped or exposed data (mostly email addresses) came from its systems.

"We conducted a thorough investigation and there is no evidence that data recently being sold was obtained by exploiting a vulnerability of Twitter systems."

My only thought is, who is even left at Twitter to carry out a investigation?

Well faced with concluding that there is / was a serious breach and facing the sack or saying there is no problem at all this doesn't surprise me, internal investigations seldom reach the right conclusion.
