@smallcircles @deadsuperhero @atomicpoet @b3n @timbray noticed that and am watching the thread, my thoughts on opt-in RN are that: if an ActivityPub instance existed where you could "follow" a virtual user to opt-in that seems to solve most issues, and feel there's prob. enough "lovers of the limelight", info/news channels, and people that want their voice amplified to avoid the bootstrap issue. If it can get traction then it also makes it more difficult for the next FTS attempt to overtake it.
@smallcircles @deadsuperhero @atomicpoet @b3n @timbray - and back on topic, it could also give brands a place to push things without being too intrusive - with the lack of an algorithm or purchase of ad space - brands will need to provide value to get followed. (not a bad idea, but will take time for the adaption)
