Phone notifications are stressful.
Probably the most stressful thing ever invented next to leaf blowers.
Whenever I can, I turn them off.
But then that ends up pissing off a lot of people, including my wife, who often try to get a hold of me.
Yet it actually fills me with dread to hear them go off.
This is why I'm very selective about what apps I allow to notify me.

Desktop notifications are a pain too, esp when you are trying to make a sceen cast video and they appear part way through.
@zleap I refuse to allow desktop notifications.
