I need to watch the Beatles get back documentary at some point, however watching a few videos about this had George Harrison insist on Bringing in Billy Preston, a Black musician from Texas, to help record Get back. He had a huge smile on his face and looked really happy. What happened here is that his influence seem to galvanise the group to keep going with the project, so in a way he saved it from going off the rails. So did a black musician save the Beatles, perhaps. Great stuff, he had huge amounts of energy, but he was 22, so injected something really positive vibes.
