Spain has universal health care, high-speed rail, and no student debt. The US is falling behind Europe and Asia in health care, education, and transportation. We need to measure how well we are doing as a country and society by vastly broader measures than just how much money the superwealthy are hording in the stock market and how much military might we are throwing around.

I think with military might it should also include how it is used, humanitarian work is essential and uses lots of skills taught in the military, from rescue, rebuilding infrastructure, getting aid field hospitals set up in remote areas.
