Stephen Bush (FT) on why apologising for #Slavery while necessary isn't sufficient to right history's wrongs:

'People & places that have been dealt a bad hand by history don’t need apologies or hand-wringing from those of us with the dumb luck to get a good one. Mostly, what they really need is a plan to redress the imbalance — and the money to make it happen'!

So whatever we think about 'rewriting history', what is really required is real action on global #inequality!

Amen to that!

I agree, saying sorry isn't enough, We need action on . Slave owners made huge amounts of money from the slave trade, modern billionares make their billions off the backs of users, some of whom can't put a decent meal in from of them.

With a world population of between 7 and 8 billion people, having a small number being worth over 100 billion is really grotesque.

In both cases slave owners & billionaries have set up instiutions to help people (e.g schools), however if we redistrubute this modern weatlth then everyone will have access to healthcare and education, the basic building blocks to give people a real chance.
