But have sites not been scraping data for years, I did read something about adding or removing a file from robots.txt to stop this. As per usual people on mailing lists usually talk about these things, assume others understand what it all does and hence never actually explain how to actually mitigate against this.

Surely there could be a way for us to add in hashtags or put in our profiles consent to this, as in explict consent for other sites to scan our posts and grab the data (or what ever the correct terminology is).

Make it clear to the AI bots / big tech that there is NO consent unless we opt to give consent, but add in it is on them to PROVE we have given that consent.
