Trump wanted to bomb Iranian cultural sites at some point, probably including those that are protected by the UN as world heritage sites. Military commanders rightly said he could not order that .

Knowing trump he would fire them so he can replace with a general who will just do without asking, very dangerous, trump would then ensure that person is hung out to dry come any court action.
