I agree that the west needs to build up it's defensive capability. Not just in the military sense, but also within the cyber world too, ensure we have critical infrastructure properly protected, those using that fully understand why we are using Multifactor authentication, strong passwords and have robust policies on how and where data is stored, and for the transfer of data on / off sites.

We also seem to have problems with bad actors gaining entry to the country or worse gaining access to critical systems through employment.

Slight tangent here, but the Sarah Everard case highlighted the rogue police officer Wayne Cousins should NEVER have been allowed in to the police service in the first place, so it shows holes in background checks. So we just need to be far more robust, regardless of how much extra paperwork that involves.
