There's a creeping anti-creative mindset infiltrating our culture.

It's championed by folks who wear their disdain for fiction as a badge of honor, dismissing novels as frivolous distractions from "real" learning.

In their pursuit of cold, hard facts, these wannabe pragmatists are unwittingly cutting themselves off from one of humanity's most powerful tools for understanding the world and ourselves.

And it's complete bullshit.

Yeah, sometimes when you bury your self in a task, it can take over your thought processes, fiction be it the written / spoken word or a movie can take you away from all that for a short period of time, allowing you to reset and when you go back to a task you see it with fresh eyes and perspective.
