Not as well as we think we do is th conclusion of this research from Bryony Payne & Caroline Catmur (KCL).... which may help us understand why is seems so potent hat political opponents are speaking past one another.
@ChrisMayLA6 There is only one way that I know to correctly understand other people, and that is to repeat back to them what you think you heard, then allow them to correct you, and repeat the process until both parties have the same understanding. A powerful technique when used, which it too frequently is not!
