our dystopian world / fb listening to phone mics
I'm sure our administrative agencies are going to be all over this! I'm just positive that no matter who wins the election, they'll have to put an end to this dystopian practice, right? Right?!?
Haha! We all know that Silicon Valley companies are allowed to do whatever they want with no repercussions. This is the hell world all the "smart people" have created for us, the fucking idiots.

our dystopian world / fb listening to phone mics
I have heard similar stories, in that people have had conversations face to face than by some odd coincidence up pop related adverts. The only way that can happen is surely eavesdropping.
So been happening for years,
our dystopian world / fb listening to phone mics
Good question, however if we go off at a slight tangent, this appears to be part of human nature, Look at the BBC and Jimmy Saville, a respected person, raised millionsfor charity, respected presenter etc. All the while he was abusing children, using his status to gain access. People had suspicions, and there was gossip etc, but no one did anything BECAUSE of who it was, so pretty much untouchable.
Oddly the BBC have had reports and probably documentaries on sex offenders so they know how they operate, and get away with it, then learn nothing from their own programming research.
So facebook is the same, it is Facebook, people use it, like using it so the idea that it can't be trusted / abuses information is lost on them, they are blind to what is actually happening as facebook can also control what in in your feed.
I guess it could be a case of unless it happens to you personally then let it carry on. Look at Trump at Arlington, he has made many comments on a range of things (mostly offensive to at least some groups) but when those comments are aimed at veterans the veterans speak up, but stay silent. I made a comment to this effect.

Granted this is social media in general, but people are almost entralled. I just remembered who it was i could not find the name of earlier, Cambridge Analytica despite what happened with them and facebook nothing really changed.
This will just carry on, you can bring up the topic of what fb are doing spying on conversations (or it seems get third parties to do, so they can maintain we don't do this ploy) all you do is go round in circles with people, when it happens to them personally, just say I have told you this was happening, but you would not listen, I use fedi anyway so not a problem for me.
