I’m British and think the flag looks good, more interesting than most other flags, with a solid colour scheme.
What I hate is the ignorant nationalism, and of course the history is pretty toxic.
I love wearing TeamGB kit, because it represents so much that is good about us, and I don’t want the bigots to claim the country and its flag.

It was actually the 2012 Olympics where I changed my view. My then tiny kids would shout “Olympic Flag” whenever they saw it. I thought fuck the bigots, I’m taking this flag back for a better future.
