I think most people feel the same way about the killing of Brian Thompson as they did about the execution of Timothy McVeigh. McVeigh killed 168 people, including 19 kids, and even people who are against the death penalty didn't mourn his passing. Some cheered. It's the same with Thompson.

Celebrating a murder is ugly, but it's understandable when the person killed is a killer. Killing people by withholding medical treatment is much uglier, though, especially when it's to make more money.

Hopefully it will spark discussions about healthcare and health insurance in the US, I doubt that will happen as seems to be far too much money (profit) in US healthcare.

Wait till RFK jnr gets his way with vaccines and we could see far far more deaths as a result of not being vaccinated for example, only those deaths are preventable.

@zleap Sometimes the system toughens up & clamps down on protest. Sometimes the system is forced to change radically (e.g. Britain's NHS being set up after WWII). Most often there are token adjustments to make the system seem more humane until protest dies down.

The political climate matters, and with an incoming Trump administration I'd expect the first of those things (a tough law & order approach) to predominate. Then again, anything's possible with a populist who doesn't play by the rules.
